Ever heard of Okinawa star sand? It's actually made up of tiny organisms called Foraminifera. Once the Foraminifera die they leave behind their star shaped exoskeletons. These tiny stars are only found on 2 islands in Okinawa Japan. The sand is found scattered along beaches then collected, sifted, washed and sorted by the locals. The tiny stars within are said to bring luck and good fortune.
A local legend has it that these tiny star creatures are the offspring of the North Star and Southern Cross. It was said that their children were born in the sea of Okinawa, but a serpent swallowed them all leaving only their skeletons behind.
Each tiny jar is filled with sand then sealed with a cork and resin for durability.
*These tiny jars have NATURAL color corks.*
*Each one is different since they are natural items*
**one will be chosen at random for you*
